"When we reissued the record July 13 (1990, live), the CD booklet had a mention that it had been remastered. It's not true. In 1990 there was no technique, equipment or training to master a record in Portugal - you could do a little here and there, raising and lowering frequencies. When people ask me what it means to master a record, after it's recorded and mixed - all done - I usually metaphorically explain that it's the same as yeast does to cakes. The difference between a flat dough and a tall and tasty (vigorous) sponge cake. Rui Dias warned me and the fans realized that, on the reissue of July 13 (in July 2020) we would hear things previously hidden, without expression.
And so it was. This is what mastering is all about. A skill that Rui is specialised in, investing tons of money to have the world's top gear and software used to give smell, colour and dimension to our music - he add quality to the sound art. And it's because of the quality of his work that I stopped sending our records to New York (sorry Vandette), because the really good stuff is here on the south bank of the river Tagus."
